Over the last few decades, the number of court cases involving intimate family matters has exploded. As a result, in 2009, New Hampshire created the “Circuit Court” which has an entirely separate division for family law cases – the “Family Division.” Family law cases handled in the “Family Division” include divorce, unmarried parent “custody” cases (now called “parental rights and responsibilities”), domestic violence, guardianships over children, terminations of parental rights, and certain adoptions.
A divorce attorney and a family law attorney are essentially the same thing.
